Portable RCDs, fixed switchboard RCDs and equipment incorporating protective devices are not necessarily tested in the same way. The device type and workplace context should be identified before the service is scoped.
Why the test button is useful but limited
A built-in test button is a useful functional check where provided, but it is not a substitute for all instrument testing or inspection requirements. Follow the device instructions and applicable workplace requirements.

RCD protection is especially important in environments where portable electrical equipment is exposed to tougher conditions. Site rules and applicable standards may impose specific expectations, so confirm current requirements for the actual workplace.

Tell the provider how many RCDs are involved, whether they are portable or fixed, the workplace type and whether electrical Test & Tag or three-phase equipment is also part of the job.
